What is This Scam?

Scammers are sending enticing images (memes, job offers, or 'viral' photos) that contain hidden malicious links or embedded malware (Steganography). Simply clicking or downloading these images can allow hackers to steal your session tokens, passwords, or even take control of your device.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Never click on images sent by unknown individuals on WhatsApp or Telegram
  • Avoid downloading images from suspicious social media accounts
  • Keep your social media app and mobile OS updated with latest security patches
  • Disable 'Auto-download' for media in your messaging apps
  • If an image redirects you to a login page, close it immediately
