Fake bank officials asking for OTP to update KYC. Banks never ask for OTP over calls.
What is This Scam?
Fraudsters are calling customers pretending to be bank officials and claiming that their KYC needs urgent updating. They create a sense of urgency by threatening account suspension and then ask for OTPs or banking credentials to 'complete the process'.
How to Protect Yourself
- Banks never ask for OTP, PIN, or CVV over phone calls
- KYC updates are done through official bank branches or verified apps
- Hang up and call your bank's official customer care number
- Never share screen with unknown callers via AnyDesk or TeamViewer
- Report such calls to your bank immediately
