The 'Illegal Parcel' Scam: Don't Panic

Written by

Cyber Safety Team

Receiving a call about drugs found in a parcel under your name? It's the 'FedEx/BlueDart' scam targeting thousands.

You receive a call claiming to be from FedEx, BlueDart, or Customs. They state a parcel sent in your name to Taiwan or Dubai has been intercepted containing drugs, fake passports, or illegal items.

The Trap

They will transfer the call to a 'Police Officer' (often over Skype or Video Call) who will threaten you with immediate arrest. They may show fake police badges or ID cards.

The Demand

To 'verify' your innocence, they will ask you to transfer a large sum of money to a 'RBI Safe Account' or for 'security deposit', promising to refund it after verification. This is a lie. The police never ask for money transfers.

What To Do

- Disconnect immediately.
- Do not share personal details.
- Report the number to cyber crime authorities.
